STEM Game 4 SUCCESS
Canvas of Change, hosted by our Director of Creativity & Engagement, Dr. Adrienne Unae Dozier, in collaboration with a STEM educator and an image consultant, invites girls in grades 6-8 to explore STEM through a fun, two-part game rooted in the performing arts. The game consists of four key components: creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and presentation skills. Participants will transform their ideas into reality, experiencing how STEM can be both engaging and enjoyable. They’ll work with the image consultant to refine their presentations for a lively team showcase, proving that STEM education is a thrilling journey full of imagination and discovery! |

Credit for Change Internships
Students often face a tough dilemma: they need internships for valuable experience, but many available opportunities are unpaid and/or don’t offer academic credit. Research shows that Black students are disproportionately affected, often struggling to secure internships, regardless of what companies offer. Race or gender discrimination isn’t always the issue; some companies simply can’t afford to pay. When internships are required for degree completion, and paid, credit-earning positions aren’t accessible, they’re forced to accept whatever is available—or risk falling behind. Some Black students are willing to take that risk and say no. This lack of suitable internships creates a significant barrier to their academic and professional success. |
In Front of the Class Podcast
The field of education faces several critical issues that demand our attention. Among the top concerns today are the increasing reliance on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in classrooms, teacher retention and shortages, the dismantling of the Department of Education, the growing emphasis on soft skills, and the push for personalized learning through data and technology. But one major problem continues to persist: excluding teachers from key educational conversations. While the issues may change, without educators' voices shaping the future of education, efforts to address these challenges will fall short. |
